On Saturday afternoon a lost dog was running through the field by Bowes and Randall Road. It is a brown dog about 20 lbs or so. It was running into Randall and numerous cars tried stopping to get the dog. I tried several times but had no luck on Saturday. On Sunday afternoon I saw him again in the field and my husband went in the field after the dog but he just runs away quickly. I figured I would post here in case the owners see and hopefully the dog will come for them!

Any idea what kind of dog it is? He/she is so fast I can not tell!  I put several dog bones in my car just in case I can catch it!

It was just too dark and we passed him/her too quickly to tell.  Looked light brown, and like you said, about 20 pounds.

We just saw him/her -

Lotsokids called me today after spotting a small dog (about 20-30lbs?) running in the fields behind the Townhomes by the branch library and I went out to help her look.  He/she is a reddish brown color (lol, the dog, not Lotsokids), looks a little like a chihauhua mix and had on a red collar.  The dog looked thin as if he/she had been lost a while. He/she clearly was scared and ran off whenever we got too close...however, did look like he/she wanted to come...just was too apprehensive.  The dog finally took off into the swampy fields in the middle of the townhomes and we lost track of it.  It looks like it's been doing a decent job of foraging for such a small thing....

If you are missing a dog or know someone who is - that's the last place we spotted it (between about 11:30 and 1:30pm today).  Lotsokids can give more detail as she was the one who got the closest to the dog.....

If this is your dog and you want help searching, I am happy to go back out and help, just call me 847-409-9722

As GirlWindy said, the dog is small and possibly a chihuahua mix.  Short hair, ruby/brown in color (shiny coat).  He did get hit by a car when trying to cross Randall.  Another car stopped but he jumped up and ran back into the fields.  There was no visible damage other than a slight limp.  I'm with GirlWindy, I will gladly help out trying to get this little guy safe and sound.  IM me or have GirlWindy call me.

It broke my heart reading he got hit! I call him zoom zoom because he is so fast! I live in the town homes looking at the field where he has been spotted. I will not stop trying to get him, I am worried because of the coyotes. I will look again after work. Did he go in the pond by the parking lot or the one in the huge grassy area by the walking trail?

We think (not sure because he IS Zoom Zoom) he ran into the middle section of the development - the big grassy/swampy/pondy area that the townhomes surround.  I am hoping if he has been hanging in that area a few days now, that he'll stick around there and someone will eventually see him and help him.  It's killing me - I almost want to go back out there and keep looking.  I might try again tomorrow.  At least the weather isnt horrble anymore - and he did eat what looked like a dead squirrel (he was carrying it in his mouth) so at least he's had some nutrition.  There are a lot of streams there too.  If he can avoid the coyotes, he may have a chance outside for a bit longer...

Zoom Zoom, I love it!  My guess is he can run faster than a coyote, he just has make sure they don't sneak up on him.

Good Morning! I just wanted to thank you for letting me know zoom zoom is in the middle section of the town homes, I guess it's better than the field in front where he has been (by Randall & Bowes). I drove around after work yesterday and this morning before work but it is hard to see in the middle section because that grass is so tall and his color blends in. Last night I kept main floor lights on all night hoping to attract him/her but no luck! I will search again after work. Hopefully someone will catch zoom zoom soon! I am so happy you ladies were trying as well. I have a dog and can not imagine how it would feel to loose her!

I hate posting this, but Chilleme called and asked what Zoom Zoom looked like... she had seen a dog on the side of the road that had apparently been hit by a car.  I ran over to check it out and it was Zoom Zoom.  His collar was gone or I would have notified the family.  I will call the county so they can remove him.  Thank you to everyone who tried to help out the poor little guy (he was a boy).  The county will also check for a microchip which I strongly suggest dog owners doing.  It doesn't hurt your dog and can be used in situations like this. Sad

I really appreciate you letting me know about zoom zoom. I was SO SAD to read your post! I drove around for 45 minutes Tuesday night looking for him. We all made a great effort to try to help him! You are right about the micro chip. I told my husband the same thing last night and I will be getting this for my dog next time at the vet. We do have a collar on our dog that has our phone number stitched in it (Foster & Smith).
