Elgin Lions Soccer Club Tryouts
« on: May 22, 2017, 07:39:37 AM »
Hello everybody,
The Lions Soccer Club is holding their tryouts tonight and tomorrow.  Tonight is at Life zone 360 in and tomorrow is at Plato Park.  It's an awesome club with great coaches. Below is the information.

Although Lions SC has an open-door policy for year-round tryouts, we host formal tryouts for our Fall teams every May. This year, we'll be hosting tryouts at our West Dundee (indoor) and West Elgin (outdoor) locations. We strongly recommend pre-registering your player for tryouts so that your check-in process at tryouts is streamlined.

Once your player is checked in, they'll be escorted to the field where their age group is trying out. Our returning players are only required to attend one day of tryouts. New/prospective players are strongly recommended to attend both Monday and Tuesday's tryouts.

The tryout process is standard for most age groups. Players will be given some warmup instructions followed by 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 play. An element of speed and agility is evaluated by our Parisi Speed School staff. Depending on group size, coaches may modify tryout plans.

Players are typically "stressed out" on the day of tryouts - so assure your player that Lions SC tryouts are about playing and having fun. We have levels of play ranging from recreational to elite.

During tryouts, parents will be provided an informational packet to review. Lions SC operational staff will be available for Q&A during the tryout session as well.

Coaches will contact parents by the weekend of May 27th with our selection decision. If you don't hear back via email or phone by Sunday evening, don't hesitate to call 414-88-LIONS to speak with us.

Players are advised the following:

Don't wear gear of your current or previous travel club (even if it is Lions SC). Wear "generic" t-shirt or soccer jersey.
Bring a water bottle. No gatorade or sports drinks allowed on the turf fields at Lifezone360. Sports drinks are ok at Plato Park.
Turf shoes only at Lifezone360. Cleats are ok at Plato Park.
Shin guards are mandatory for all ages.
Bring a soccer ball with you. Size 4 for 2006 birth years and younger. Size 5 for 2005 birth years and older.
If you do not pre-register, please arrive 15-20 minutes before the start of your session so you are not delayed getting on the field.
Players may be invited to additional tryout/training sessions later in the week. Please keep Wednesday and Thursday open for supplemental tryouts.
May 22nd (Monday) session is at our indoor training facility Lifezone360 in West Dundee.

May 23rd (Tuesday) session is at our outdoor facility Plato Park in Elgin

Tryout Times Are As Follows

2009 and 2010 birth years : 5-6 pm

2007 and 2008 birth years: 6:15 - 7:15 pm

2003 thru 2006 birth years: 7:30 - 8:30 pm

We STRONGLY recommend registering in advance or your player may be delayed getting into the tryout session with onsite registration. We do not charge for tryouts so registration is free.
